You’ve done everything you were supposed to… so why do you still feel overwhelmed and unsatisfied?
You followed the rules, met expectations, and have been pushing yourself to do everything “right,” even when it leaves you depleted. You were the gifted kid who always excelled, and have been trying to live up to that reputation ever since.
Now, you’re looking back wondering why you’ve pushed yourself so hard—and why you still feel behind.
You find yourself thinking, “Something must be wrong with me…everyone else seems to be managing fine.” That internal pressure, paired with all the changes life has been throwing at you and the constant barrage of horrible news in the palm of your hand, has you feeling stuck, low on hope, and exhausted by the thought of having to keep going.
This might be showing up as…
-
It seems like you can’t ever escape the worry spirals that have become background noise in your life. You tell yourself once you accomplish the next thing or reach the next milestone, you’ll be able to slow down and relax.
But when that time comes, you move the goalpost and push yourself to meet a new, higher standard, and contentment becomes an ever-moving target. Part of you thinks the discomfort you feel when you’re not busy is what has helped you achieve so much—and you’re scared that you might not be as successful or valuable without it.
-
No matter how hard you try to stay on top of things, your scattered thoughts and penchant for getting distracted, overwhelmed, or paralyzed by the choices in front of you always seem to derail you. You know what you need to do—what you “should” do—and yet, can’t make yourself stay on track. It feels embarrassing to try so hard and still not be able to meet your own expectations.
Often, the frustration of not being able to do something “right” leads you to wanting to give up entirely. You think there has to be a better way to get through the day, but haven’t found any system or approach that’s actually helped you keep your head above water.

If you’re honest, you don’t feel like you deserve to be where you’re at in your career—or, at least, you don’t feel secure that you can keep it up. Sure, you got the degree, did the work, and are climbing the ladder, but you don’t feel successful. In fact, you’re feeling increasingly resentful and overextended—and it’s starting to impact your performance in ways you’re not proud of.
You keep saying “yes” when your boss asks things of you, because you know that’s the expected response.
You fear that taking your foot off the gas at all would ruin your reputation or put you too far behind to catch up. But you’re starting to question whether working so hard will ever bring you the kind of happiness and fulfillment you thought it would.
Hi, I’m Dr. Ruth Viehoff.
You don’t have to explain yourself here—I already get it.
I’ve helped countless people living under the same pressure and overwhelm you’re facing now get unstuck and become the version of themselves they want to be. That means we won’t spend our time circling the same surface-level issues, and I won’t offer you unhelpful, generic advice like “just make a list!” Instead, we’ll slow down together to figure out what’s actually driving your stress—which might seem unnatural or counterintuitive, but is crucial to finding a path toward actually feeling better.
A lot of our work looks like getting curious about the standards you hold yourself to, the ways you’ve learned to keep going even when you’re exhausted, and whether those strategies are still helping you live the life you want. We’ll also collaborate to find tools and strategies that can help you in the short term, as we continue to unravel the underlying issues and define what matters most to you. What you’re feeling right now makes so much sense (even if it doesn’t seem that way), but I believe there is a life you’ll love on the other side of this work.
